If the end credits of Loki episode four are to be believed, it looks like things may have gotten a lot more complicated for the God of Mischief. Shortly after discovering that the Time-Keepers are nothing more than "mindless androids," Loki is pruned just as he's about to bare his soul to Sylvie after their time on Lamentis-1. It isn't until the credits roll that we find out if that's the last we'll be seeing of that particular Loki.
It's understandable that Loki thinks he's in "Hel," the underworld in Norse mythology. His wonderings are quickly interrupted by four other Loki variants: Kid Loki (Jack Veal), Classic Loki (Richard E. Grant), Boastful Loki (DeObia Oparei), and Alligator Loki. If he wants to live, he's told to come with them. So what does this mean for our Loki and the future of the show? If this post-apocalyptic New York City wasteland is where all variants go after they've been pruned, maybe the newly pruned Mobius is lurking around a corner somewhere. It certainly looks like the domain of the highly anticipated President Loki. Could he be the key to everything? Including who created the Time-Keepers in the MCU?
After the introductions of Wiccan and Speedy on WandaVision, Elijah Bradley on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Kate Bishop on the upcoming Hawkeye, and Kamala Khan on the upcoming Ms. Marvel, the presence of a Kid Loki variant seems to further cement that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently laying the groundwork for an eventual Young Avengers team-up. Only time will tell whether or not this is a throwaway gag for the show or if the character truly means something. Until then, we'll have to wait and see what mischief Loki will get into in the final two episodes of Loki.
